Mike Bello, a freshman outfielder for the Lions, has become the first Sussex County player to commit to play for a college in the NCAA’s Southeastern Conference after deciding last Thursday night to continue his academic and baseball careers at Auburn University when he graduates from Pope John in 2021.

The Lions capped the 2017-18 season on Sunday by officially having a school-record five state placewinners after junior JoJo Aragona, sophomore Eddie Ventresca, senior Jake Rotunda, senior Jake Brown and senior Reece Muldoon each found their way to the medal stand at the end of the 85th NJSIAA Wrestling Championships at Boardwalk Hall.

Clarke, Davis spearhead PJ boys basketball to HWS final

Aaron Clarke and Eddie Davis combined for 49 points while directing the Pope John XXIII Regional High School boys basketball team to a 58-53 comeback victory over Hunterdon Central in the Hunterdon Warren Sussex Tournament semifinals on Saturday at Warren Hills High School in Washington Township.
