Accreditation
Pope John XXIII High School is fully accredited by the AdvancED Accreditation Commission and is approved and monitored by the School Office of the Diocese of Paterson. The school is a coeducational, non-residential college preparatory high school, drawing its student body from Sussex, Morris, Passaic and Warren counties as well as from neighboring counties of Pennsylvania. The school enrolls approximately 965 students in grades 9 through 12. Pope John's class size is 19 and our student/teacher ratio is 12.5:1. For more school statistics please read our school profile.
GPA & Grading System
The cumulative GPA is determined by final year-end grades. Final grades are an average of quarter grades, mid-year grades and final examination grades. Grades earned in each subject are assigned quality points in accordance with the academic group to which the course is assigned. The quality point assignments for each grade are as follows:

Graduation Requirements
In order to receive a Pope John XXIII High School diploma, students must earn a total of 130 credits by the end of 12th grade and satisfy the course distribution requirements outlined below:
