Pope John Student Spotlight: Chase Nugnes '19

We at Pope John XXIII Regional High School want to share with you our “Pope John Student Spotlight” series, which recognizes our students’ talents and achievements! Today, we want to showcase Chase Nugnes!

 

Nugnes is a senior who has demonstrated who has demonstrated great talents while at Pope John. Nugnes recently earned a scholarship to be a part of the NAVY ROTC program at The Citadel. Nugnes is also a director and actor for the Pope John Players, which he helped its production of “Newsies: The Musical” earn the “Large Theater” selection at Sussex County Teen Arts, earn the opportunity to perform at the “Best of Fest” at the 51st Student Theater Festival at Bucks County Playhouse, and earn the “Best Musical Number of the Year” by the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council for singing “The World Will Know”. He has earned First Honors in the classroom while taking courses such as AP U.S. Government, History of Great Trials, Principles of Engineering and Design, Calculus and Environmental Science. Nugnes is also a member of the International Thespian Society, the American Spirit Singers, the Honors Select Chorus, and the wrestling team. Moreover, he is a member of the U.S. Navy Sea Cadet Corps, a “national youth leadership development organization that promotes interest and skill in naval disciplines while instilling strong moral character and life skills through leadership and technical programs modeled after the Navy's professional development system," and a volunteer at St. Joseph Church in Newton.
