We at Pope John XXIII Regional High School want to share with you our “Pope John Student Spotlight” series in which we recognize our students’ talents and achievements! Today, we want to showcase Dane Armstrong!

A Hamburg resident, Armstrong is a senior who has shown a great amount of school spirit inside and outside of Pope John. He is a leader of the senior class and an organizer for the Pope John Den, the student fan section that attends Pope John athletic events. Armstrong is also a standout lacrosse player, having earned NJ.com All-State First Team and New Jersey Herald Player of the Year honors as a junior. He is also the school’s record holder for face-offs won and ground balls in the sport. In addition, Armstrong has earned Second Honors in the classroom and is currently taking courses such as AP Psychology, Honors Economics, Pre-Calculus, Forensic Sciences, and International Conflicts, Crimes & Crises. Moreover, he has ran in two 5K races this year, the Friends of Pope John Track 5K Spirit Run and the Sussex County Crimestoppers “Race Against Crime” 5K, to help raise funds for both organizations. Armstrong is planning to continue his academic and athletic careers at University of Maryland, Baltimore County next fall.
