'Father of PJ Wrestling', former head coach Dale Kobler passes away

It is with great regret that Pope John High School sends the sad news of the passing of former wrestling head coach Dale Kobler.
Coach Kobler is known as the “Father of Pope John Wrestling,” as he started the program in 1961 and had the team wrestling on the varsity level in 1963-64. He coached for 12 seasons, amassing an 84-66-3 record and a District 11 title in 1975. Kobler also coached 11 wrestlers who combined to win 18 District championships, 10 Region championships, and three state titles.
