SPARTA — Eight individuals and families within the Pope John XXIII Regional High School community were honored with the Vivere Christus Est Medal during the Diocese of Paterson’s Vivere Christus Est awards ceremony on Sept. 10 at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Paterson.

The Pope John individuals and families were part of a group of 173 individuals, couples and families who received this special award from Bishop Arthur J. Serratelli.

The award “acknowledges on a diocesan level the value and importance of the laity and to express gratitude and appreciation to those who unselfishly give of themselves for the building of God’s Kingdom,” according to the Diocese. The Medal is named after the Latin phrase, “To live is Christ,” found in St. Paul’s Letter to the Philippians (1:21).

Judith & William Bosworth, Our Lady of the Lake, Sparta
