PJ teacher, strength coach Joe Lopez named 2018 NSCA State and Provincial Director of the Year

SPARTA — Joe Lopez, Pope John XXIII Regional High School's department chair for health and physical education and the school's head strength and conditioning coach for all 29 athletic teams, was selected as the National Strength and Conditioning Association's State and Provincial Director of the Year for 2018.
 
Lopez, who has worked at Pope John since 2003 as a health and physical education teacher and has served as the Lions' first full-time strength and conditioning coach since 2016, earned the award based on his leadership while being the New Jersey State Director for the NSCA, his advocacy of the NSCA and strength and conditioning professionals, and his contributions to continuing education.
