National Honor Society

The National Honor Society (NHS) elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four pillars have been associated with membership in the organization since its inception in 1921. Membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service. NHS members provide peer tutoring every morning and assist with activities at Pope John and in the community.

To be considered for membership, Juniors must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 and 60 service hours. Seniors must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 and 75 service hours. Service hours must be documented by the theology teacher by the end of January. Eligible students will be invited to apply at the beginning of the third quarter.
